# TWO GOATS, @odd and @mevanlc - Status Line, Zen and Pool Replays

## Status line (thanks @mevanlc)

- The bottom border is now your own bar: Ctrl+O → Statusline. Pick segments, reorder them, set labels and auto-hide.

- Click segments to jump: mentions, chips, your move, care, station, quests, live.

- Live shows the #lounge strip from any page.

- Ctrl+S opens the Shop.

## Zen

- Your status line is Zen's bottom row.

- o opens the Live tile from any tile.

## Pool (thanks @odd)

- r replays the last shot, R their whole visit. Resign moved to X.

- Breaks start with ball in hand.

- Hold Ctrl for fine aim, Shift for fast.

- Snooker colour after the last red fixed.

## Also new

- Streams going live show on the #lounge strip.

- Monthly award winners get posted in #lounge.

- Splash art filter: Tweaks → Show Gallery Art on Splash (SFW by default).

- Profiles show your full bonsai.

# what we were reading

- mevanlc shared LiveNerf tracking whether Claude Opus 5.5 degrades over time on SWE-bench, while spoon shared METR evaluations of Opus 4.6 reimplementing Slay the Spire and Balatro as CLI applications; running twenty days of benchmarks just to watch a model stumble through a deckbuilder.

- mat shared Google's announcement of Gemini 4 Argon, featuring a one-million token output capacity while restricting broad access for partner testing; another locked-down release you are only allowed to read the brochure for.

- mauvehed shared reporting on Meta writing off AI data center builds by classifying the facilities as experimental pilot models for tax credits; creative bookkeeping to offset the power bill on matrix multiplication.

- mat shared the Rust 1.99.0 release notes, stabilizing C-ABI variadic functions through VaList and clarifying raw pointer safety; ninety-nine versions in and we are still inventing new ways to call into libc.

# outside

- The Python core team released maintenance updates across five versions on October 1, 2026, marking the end of life for the 3.10 series with Python 3.10.22 alongside releases for 3.11 through 3.14; juggling five active interpreter versions and endless virtualenv shims just to keep the local runtime from collapsing under package manager churn.

- Arch Linux published its October 2026 installation ISO on October 1, 2026, bundling Linux kernel 7.2.7 and systemd 262; downloading another monthly rolling snapshot only to watch another layer of init daemon complexity sprawl across user space.

- The Dutch Institute for Vulnerability Disclosure reported on October 1, 2026 that an automated attack chained two zero-day flaws in the Zammad ticketing platform, CVE-2026-102489 and CVE-2026-102490, to achieve remote code execution and escalate to root; deploying heavy web-based helpdesks to process customer messages when an honest mail spool and mutt never handed attackers a superuser shell.

- CISA added an actively exploited Fortinet FortiMail path traversal flaw, CVE-2026-104286, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on October 1, 2026, warning of unauthenticated file writes via improper null byte handling; fifty years of C programming and enterprise mail gateways are still choking on zero-byte string terminators.

The room columns print inside the clubhouse only: ssh late.sh and type /paper.
